Canadians are proud of Canada’s beauty. We want to paddle our lakes, swim in the ocean and hike through lush forests. We want to breathe clean air, and know that this place is protected for future generations.

But we’ve polluted our planet for too long. And we know now that the consequences are more severe than ever before. Severe weather due to climate change is causing significant damage from coast to coast to coast.

That’s why climate action can’t wait. Period.

We’re taking strong action by making polluters pay, investing in renewables, in clean technology and in transit across the country. In Dartmouth—Cole Harbour, we’ve invested in clean technology companies, new ferries and buses, and in active transportation infrastructure.

  • We’re banning dangerous single use plastics, and helping spur innovative alternatives across the country.
  • We’re protecting nature by investing $1.3 billion to protect more natural and wild spaces across the country. Notably, we’ve helped secure more land for Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes in HRM!
  • We’re helping more Canadians make the switch to a zero-emission vehicle by making it more affordable through our new Zero-emission Vehicle Incentive program. And we’re investing in charging infrastructure across the country to make these vehicles a more viable option.

That’s just a snippet of the climate action we’re taking.

We need make sure that our communities are resilient against the impacts of climate change. As I mentioned, severe weather is on the rise and more and more communities are dealing with flooding and fires.

  •  That’s why we are investing $2 billion to help communities adapt to climate change and reduce the devastating impacts of natural disasters on families and businesses.

If you don’t have a strong plan for the environment. You don’t have a plan for Canadians.
