Good news for Early Childhood Educators in Nova Scotia
- Better wages
- Access to professional development
As part of our Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care System funding, the Government of Nova Scotia committed to increasing wages for ECEs.
ECEs working in regulated child care settings will receive a 14%—43% pay raise, retroactive to July!
The announcement took place today at NSCC Akerley in Dartmouth, where we also heard from ECEs, students, faculty, and daycare operators.
We look forward to seeing the Government of Nova Scotia continue to make progress on our agreement towards lowering parent fees and supporting the goal of achieving an average of $10-a-day regulated child care by March 31, 2026.
These wage increases are long overdue. ECEs are crucial to the success of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care System. Without their expertise, compassion, and expert care—none of this would be possible.
