I attended a very cool discussion on Electric Vehicles at OneWind in Burnside this week and learned a lot! There is so much activity and excitement around Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs). And Canada sold over 14,000 Zero Emission Vehicles last month! Pretty cool. My questions to you. Would you buy an Electric Car? Now? [...]
Great visit to the Ecology Action Centre today! It was great to see their revitalized office first-hand. Their renovation project won numerous awards and was declared the most energy efficient commercial office retrofit in Canada! Through careful design, their building uses 50%+ less energy than before. Well done to everyone involved in this project. I’m looking [...]
Great start to the day with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Nova Scotia Chapter for their National Philanthropy Day breakfast. Fabulous discussion on strengthening the charitable sector for the future. Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
I had the BEST visit to Ian Forsyth Elementary School today. These grade 6 kids are brilliant. They asked thoughtful, engaged questions about what it's like to be a Member of Parliament, and how I was nominated. They asked me why I entered politics, and how politicians get ready for upcoming elections. And of [...]
Yesterday our community held the memorial service for Petty Officer Second Class Craig Blake. Craig was killed in action as he served with honour and pride alongside his comrades in Afghanistan. The tribute takes place each Remembrance Day afternoon in the park that bears his name. [...]
Canadians are deeply proud of our military members and Veterans. And you can tell by this crowd around Sullivan’s Pond, that we recognize the importance of showing respect to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. We honour the women and men who serve and have served, and we honour those who [...]
Good to visit VETS Canada with Minister Lawrence MacAulay today. We recognize the important role stakeholders like VETS Canada play in our communities. It was great to chat with Jim and Debbie about the work they’re doing and how we can keep working together to improve the lives of Veterans. [...]
This morning I attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at Cole Harbour High. It was a meaningful and well-organized ceremony. These students deeply care about the women and men who served, and those who gave their lives for our peace, stability and freedom. And they care about those who serve today.
Today, I was officially sworn-in as the Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour. I’m looking forward to the 43rd Parliament!
