Great news!!!
Canada’s Minister of Housing, Ahmed Hussen joined us in Halifax to announce over $11 Million for more affordable housing in HRM through Round 3 of the Rapid Housing Initiative!
The first 2 rounds of this initiative brought over $21 million for the municipality.
Thanks to this, and our partnerships, many vulnerable people who were chronically unhoused, now have a safe and supportive place to live in Dartmouth at The Overlook on Yorkshire, complete with wraparound services to ensure they have everything they need.
And with multiple phases underway, the new development at 80 True North Crescent in Dartmouth through the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia will provide a great place to live with rents that will remain affordable for generations.
These are just two examples of many. But there is so much more left to do. All you have to do is take a walk through our municipality to see that ALL orders of government have to step up and do more. If we want healthy communities, we have to ensure that everyone has a safe place to live.
And if we want to ensure that all Canadians can live to their fullest potential, they need to know that at the end of the day, they have a safe place to rest their head at night, a place to call home — Permanently.
