As you know, I am a strong supporter of universal national pharmacare. And our government is already at work to make this a reality.

However, as we move forward with our work to reduce drug prices in Canada, and work to implement national pharmacare, we need to make sure that patients with rare diseases get better access to the drugs they need.

As part of our work to implement national pharmacare, we’re committed to working with willing provinces & territories to establish a National Strategy for High-Cost Drugs for Rare Diseases.

I am hoping that patients with rare diseases, their families and their caregivers take part in this important consultation!
