discovery2017 is shaping up to be a amazing year with Canada 150 – but it could become even better!

This is a friendly reminder to order your 2017 Discovery Pass (it’s FREE!) sooner rather than later. The Discovery Pass gets you free admission into Parks Canada places across Canada for the entire 2017 year. Around 4.5 million Canadians have already received their Discovery Pass!

If you are in need of some recommendations of where to visit this summer with your Discovery Pass, look no further than the best province from coast-to-coast-to-coast – Nova Scotia!

In particular, if you head into Halifax/Bedford you’ll find some fantastic Parks Canada historic spots worth checking out.

Since your Discovery Pass isn’t limited to just national parks, I recommend that you head up to one of the bluffs overlooking the harbour to see York Redoubt– the view is breathtaking.

Ever notice that tiny island when you ferry or drive across the harbour? It’s Georges Island and it’s super neat. Although Georges Island is generally closed to the public you can make your way there for special events! It is a legendary part of the region’s history, and well-worth the short trip by boat for a visit. Click here for event listings.

Finally, I would be remiss not to encourage you to visit the Halifax Citadel in all of its glory. Despite the uphill journey through the city to reach it, the Citadel’s incredible historic architecture and design make it a must-see.

Once you have seen these and some of the other historic parts of Halifax with your Discovery Pass, don’t forget to return back to the right side of the harbour-  Dartmouth!

Free access to all of these spots, and hundreds more across the country, could be yours with the Discovery Pass.  Order you pass right here!
