It’s been over 20 years since the Department of National Defence has launched a public consultation of this magnitude.
We want to develop a new defence policy for Canada but we want to start with an open and transparent dialogue.
With your consultation the review will inform how we balance priorities, respond to emerging challenges and invest in our Canadian Armed Forces.
Over the next few months, we will be engaging Canadians to discuss three fundamental areas of inquiry: main challenges to Canada’s security, the role of the CAF in addressing current threats and challenges, and resource and capability requirements to carry out the CAF mandate.
Defending Canada and protecting Canadians is ultimately our Government’s most fundamental responsibility.
