Today I joined members of Somme Branch Legion #31 and our community for their annual D-Day commemoration ceremony.
On June 6, 1944, more than 14,000 Canadians stormed the beaches of Normandy. They fought with courage and determination, and many made the ultimate sacrifice so future generations could live in peace and freedom.
More than 80 years later, we continue to remember their service, honour their sacrifice, and reflect on the legacy they left behind.
Thank you to Somme Branch Legion #31 for hosting today’s ceremony and for their continued commitment to ensuring these stories are never forgotten.
We will remember them.
