Announcement with Andy Fillmore & Darrell Samson on Enhancements to the Agile Operational Maritime Capabilities, and Naval Surveillance of our Royal Canadian Navy Halifax-Class Frigates

It’s important to me that our women and men of the Canadian Armed Forces have what they need. And thankfully, it matters to our Government.

I joined Andy Fillmore & Darrell Samson to announce major enhancements to the agile operational maritime capabilities, and naval surveillance of our Royal Canadian Navy Halifax-class frigates.

The Sea Giraffe 180 radar systems on the Halifax Class frigates have been using a nearly 30-year-old antenna! That’s why we’re equipping a brand-new antenna on the ships, which will provide new 3D detection and tracking, increasing reach by up to 180kms! This will improve reliability by electronically stabilizing the system.

As a Member of the Standing Committee on National Defence, the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association, and as the MP for CFB Shearwater- I firmly believe in the importance of providing the Royal Canadian Navy with what they need to continue the incredible work they do here at home and abroad.
